Summer Arrives in Winter on the Lakritz Farm

This month we took out the frozen Fava beans to make one last pot of Winter soup. We grew the Fava beans last Summer and pretty much froze the entire harvest. It was so much fun to pull out a pound of beans from the freezer every few weeks to make soup. This last batch had onion, potato, mushroom, and red bell pepper.

We planted seed in January that popped pretty early in February. I grew up in California’s Central Valley so I’m used to seeing row crops. That’s what I usually do here on the Lakritz Farm.
